New York State’s Electronic Equipment Recycling and Reuse Act was passed on May 28, 2010. The law, which takes effect January 1, 2011, requires manufacturers to establish a convenient system for the collection and environmentally responsible recycling of electronic waste. The service must be free of charge for households and most entities, except businesses with >50 employees and not-for-profits with >75 employees.
