OGS also has a Federal Surplus Property program that allows municipal or state government entities to acquire federal surplus (instead of it going to waste stream).
New York State’s Electronic Equipment Recycling and Reuse Act was passed on May 28, 2010. The law, which takes effect January 1, 2011, requires manufacturers to establish a convenient system for the collection and environmentally responsible recycling of electronic waste. The service must be free of charge for households and most entities, except businesses with >50 employees and not-for-profits with >75 employees.
