Procurement

• Division of Purchases, assisted by the Office of Information & Technology, oversees the purchase of electronics. The State does utilize the EPEAT standards in the selection of new equipment.

Operation & Maintenance

• The Clean Government Initiative was established to help state agencies and state-supported institutions of higher learning meet applicable environmental compliance requirements and to incorporate environmentally sustainable practices into all state government functions.

End of Life Management

• The Division of Purchases oversees management of electronics at the end of their useful life through their Surplus Division.

• Maine’s ‘E-waste’ law - Requires manufacturers, consumers and government to share responsibility for the recycling of computer monitors and televisions generated as wastes by households in Maine.
